Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys leading day‑to‑day accounting operations while ensuring accurate, timely financial results. As Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the accounting function, managing the month‑end close process, supporting construction project billing, and leveraging NetSuite ERP to drive accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls. You'll partner closely with the VP of Finance and cross‑functional teams to support informed decision‑making and continued business growth. Accounting Manager Department: FinanceReports To: VP of FinanceFLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)Location: Perrysburg, OhioSchedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.mWorking Arrangements: Onsite, Eligible for Hybrid (4 onsite / 1 offsite) after 6 months of employment, manager approval required. Primary Objectives Manage and oversee daily accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Project Billing, Cash Management, and General Ledger activityLead and execute the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial resultsProvide experienced accounting leadership to monitor departmental activity and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls Key Areas of Responsibility Accounting Operations & Leadership Oversee and manage the Accounting Department team, including workload prioritization, performance management, and professional developmentServe as a hands-on accounting resource to support daily transaction processing and issue resolution across AP, AR, and billing functionsProvide backup support for accounting team members and assist the VP of Finance as needed Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Lead the monthly and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliationsPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of cash, receivables, payables, fixed assets, and project-related accountsAssist the VP of Finance with month-end income statement review, variance analysis, and financial insightsPrepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports, analyzing trends and variances to support management decision-making NetSuite ERP & Systems Utilize and maintain the NetSuite ERP system to support general ledger, billing, vendor rebates, and financial reporting activitiesManage monthly reconciliation of NetSuite vendor bills to buying group portals for vendor rebate tracking and accuracyIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and system utilization within NetSuite Construction Project Billing & Revenue Recognition Oversee construction project billing accounting specialist, ensuring accurate invoicing, job cost tracking, and timely revenue recognition in accordance with GAAPMonitor project-related accounts, including work-in-progress, retainage, and contract billingsPartner with operations and sales teams to resolve project billing issues and support cash flow objectives Cash Management & Controls Monitor daily bank activity, including ACH and wire transactions, and ensure real-time reconciliation of cash accountsMaintain strong cash flow controls and ensure proper application of customer paymentsMaintain and audit the company's fixed asset schedule on an ongoing and annual basis Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies and internal controlsEnsure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable financial regulationsAssist with audit preparation and respond to audit inquiries as needed Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance5+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated hands-on responsibility for month-end close and financial reportingPrior experience supervising or leading accounting staffStrong working knowledge of GAAP and internal controlsNetSuite (preferred) or equivalent ERP system experienceConstruction or project-based billing experienceAdvanced Excel and financial analysis skills Core Competencies Seasoned overall accounting knowledge with the ability to monitor daily activity and independently manage the close processStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsEffective leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skillsHigh level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information Benefits Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies is a leader in the distribution of new and used restaurant equipment.
