Accounting Manager - Aruna Hotel in San Pedro, Belize
About the role
Aruna Resort & Villas is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, owner accounting, HOA administration, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, compliance, and financial analysis for the resort. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting operational decision-making, and delivering exceptional service to owners, guests, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of all accounting operations, financial reporting, and financial compliance for the resort.
- Management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll review, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Leadership of budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis processes.
- Maintenance of accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
- Coordination of audits, tax reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Monitoring of departmental expenses and support of cost-control initiatives throughout the property.
- Provision of financial analysis and operational insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Preparation and distribution of quarterly owner statements, including revenue, expenses, commissions, and distributions.
- Maintenance of owner accounting records, ledgers, and supporting documentation.
- Management of HOA accounting, financial reporting, fee collection, and account reconciliations.
- Monitoring of owner and HOA receivables and assistance with reserve planning, budgeting, and annual assessments.
- Responsive handling of owner financial inquiries.
- Collaboration with department leaders to promote accountability, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, and at least 5 years of relevant experience in hospitality accounting, preferably in a resort or similar environment. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks is required. A CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.

They should also have a deep understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements, as well as experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Pay
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
