Accounting Intern (On-Going)
About the role
The Accounting On-Going Internship is a rotational program designed to provide hands-on experience and develop core competencies needed for success in a business environment. It is intended for exceptional students who wish to gain valuable insights into the industry.
Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly financial reports and account reconciliations.
- Processes payables and prepares month-end accruals.
- Communicates with external vendors.
- Creates and maintains various accounting analyses.
- Aids in audit project planning and testing.
- Prepares tax returns and researches tax compliance (federal, state, sales & use, etc.).
- Responds to audit requests.
- Assists with special projects, as needed.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
- Graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029 required.
- Able and willing to work 20-25 hours per week during the Fall/Spring semesters, including university breaks as needed.
- Able to work 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Candidate must live within commuting distance to San Antonio, TX during the internship and work on-site, in person at the Valero Headquarters.
- Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Accounting.
- Expected graduation date between August 2027 and May 2029.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
