Accounting Intern I

Reports to: Senior Accountant Job Status: Part-time About Texas Research International Texas Research International Inc (TRI) is a group of privately-owned companies with 150 employees and over $50 mm in revenue. This profitable group of companies is searching for an Accounting Intern to support the Corporate Accounting team’s initiatives. This position will work side by side with a strong accounting team and the CFO. What You’ll Do Assist with monthly reconciliations of revenue, expenses, and cash transactionsSupport the billing and revenue recognition process for servicesHelp manage accounts payable, ensuring accuracy in vendor and client paymentsPrepare journal entries and assist in financial statement preparation in compliance with GAAP as neededWork with the Finance team to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisContribute to ad-hoc financial projects that impact the business THIS IS AN IN-PERSON POSITION. What You Need Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldBasic understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and reconciliationsProficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)Experience with Acumatica or other ERP accounting software is a plus but not requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailAbility to work independently and collaborate in a fast-paced environmentPassion for learning accounting and finance activities in a B2B organizationStrong written and verbal communication skills What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience with accounting and financial operationsExposure to service and product revenue models and financial reportingMentorship from finance and accounting professionalsOpportunity to work on projects that impact accounting automation solutions Other Requirements Weekly work expectation is 12-20 hours per weekCandidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university to be considered What You’ll Get After this internship, you will be able to work in a corporate accounting setting, be exposed to various projects to include annual budgeting, have improved organizational and analytical skills and be better prepared for entering the accounting industry in either public accounting or a private business setting.
