The Accounting Intern will support the accounting department by applying knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world situations, as well as gain skills and experience necessary to prepare for a career in accounting. This role will focus primarily on accounts receivable collections, with additional exposure to other accounting functions as time permits. Based at our office in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Support accounts receivable collections by entering customer payments, researching account balances, and pulling support documentation for accounts receivable deductions.
- Assist with issuing proof-of-delivery (POD) credits and other accounting tasks as time permits.
- Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports; strong Excel skills are required and Power BI experience is a plus.
- Assist with month-end close by making journal entries and completing and preparing financial reports.
- Prepare rebate files and customer promotion support.
- Ensure the completion of assigned tasks in line with established deadlines.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- In the process of receiving an Accounting Degree and/or other related field; an emphasis on Information Systems would be advantageous.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Mathematical/analytical and proven problem-solving skills.
- Positive can-do attitude.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple activities and priorities.
- Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong customer (internal and external) service orientation.
- Integrity, honesty, practicality, consistency, clarity, and constructive bias are all expected.
- Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
