About the Role
The Accounting Clerk II performs skilled bookkeeping and moderately complex clerical accounting tasks to support the financial operations of the organization. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with financial report preparation.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process and code invoices, purchase orders, and payments.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Input financial data accurately into accounting systems and maintain organized financial records.
- Respond to inquiries from vendors, clients, and internal departments regarding payments, billing issues, and account status.
- Ensure transactions comply with federal and state laws, grant requirements, and internal policies.
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations during audits.
- Assist in preparing and analyzing financial reports, including variance analysis, profitability reporting, and performance metrics.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (required). Associate or bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- At least two (2) years of clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel for calculations and data analysis.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Knowledge of basic math, standard office equipment, and proper accounting principles.
- Ability to manage the full cycle of customer invoicing, including billing, payment processing, and collections.
- Ability to maintain organized financial files and documentation in compliance with procedures.

Work Environment
- In-office environment with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- No planned business travel required.
- No supervisory responsibilities.
