Accounting Clerk
About the role
This role provides comprehensive accounting and administrative support for a plant operation, with a strong focus on timekeeping, payroll processing, accounts payable, and inventory tracking. You will work closely with plant leadership and a tight-knit team to ensure accurate financial data, efficient office operations, and reliable reporting across multiple systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate and manage the scale operation for weighing company, customer, and third-party trucks, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
- Process vendor invoices and purchase orders, including verification, coding, and timely submission for payment.
- Provide administrative support to plant management, including document preparation, filing, and coordination of daily office activities.
- Compile, enter, and report payroll and production statistics to support operational and financial decision-making.
- Track finished goods inventory, equipment utilization, plant costs, and labor hours, and maintain accurate records in the relevant systems.
- Purchase parts and safety supplies as needed, following established purchasing procedures and maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Maintain fuel inventory records and equipment downtime reports to support maintenance and operational planning.
- Prepare and support month-end accruals and reporting, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Perform timekeeping activities in the payroll system, ensuring accurate and timely capture of hours worked.
- Enter and maintain accounting and administrative data in ERP systems, including SAP and other relevant platforms.
- Support accounts payable activities by reconciling invoices, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring proper approvals.
- Perform general bookkeeping and data entry tasks to support accurate financial records and reporting.
Essential Skills
- 2–3 years of experience in an accounting, payroll, or administrative role.
- Hands-on experience with payroll processes, including timekeeping and payroll data entry.
- Experience working with an accounting ERP system, specifically SAP.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking, and simple reporting.
- Experience with accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and purchase order handling.
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple tasks such as timekeeping, purchase orders, accounting entries, and administrative duties.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills to maintain files, reports, and inventories.
- Educational background in accounting, finance, or related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with a payroll ERP system such as KRONOS is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with ERP systems beyond SAP is an advantage.
- Basic bookkeeping experience supporting plant or operational environments.
- Comfort working with production statistics, inventory tracking, and cost reporting.
- Able to work effectively as part of a tight-knit team in a well-established company.
Work Environment
This position is fully onsite, Monday through Friday, with standard hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You will work in a plant-based environment supporting operations and management, using systems such as SAP, payroll and timekeeping platforms, and Microsoft Excel. The role involves regular interaction with production and administrative staff and requires comfort working in a structured, team-oriented setting with consistent daytime hours.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
