Accounting Assistant

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Falmouth, Massachusetts. This role is well suited for someone who is comfortable working across both payables and receivables while maintaining accurate records and timely processing. The assignment begins as a 3-month contract with potential for an additional 1-month extension, offering the opportunity to contribute to a busy accounting team in a hands-on capacity. Responsibilities: • Process vendor invoices accurately, assign the appropriate accounting codes, and help ensure timely payment completion. • Support billing and cash application activities by maintaining accounts receivable records and following up on outstanding items as needed. • Reconcile bank activity against internal financial records to identify discrepancies and keep balances current. • Review financial documentation for completeness and accuracy while entering data into accounting systems with attention to detail. • Assist with routine accounting administration, including organizing records and preparing information for reporting or audit support. • Collaborate with internal team members to resolve payment, invoicing, or account issues in a timely and thorough manner. • Previous experience in an accounting support or bookkeeping role. • Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. • Experience performing bank reconciliations and researching variances. • Ability to code invoices accurately and maintain organized financial records. • Strong attention to detail and dependable data entry skills. • Proficiency with standard office and accounting software. • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a Monday through Friday work schedule.
