About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support daily financial and administrative tasks for a legal organization in Pennsylvania. This is a long-term contract opportunity suited to an entry-level candidate who is eager to build hands-on accounting experience in a structured weekday schedule. The role focuses on high-volume support work, including inbox monitoring, invoice handling, report review, and accurate financial data processing.
Responsibilities
- Review and manage the finance email inbox, ensuring requests and documents are routed or addressed promptly
- Process incoming invoices and enter billing information into the appropriate records with a high level of accuracy
- Assist with accounts payable activities by organizing documentation and preparing items for payment processing
- Support accounts receivable tasks through data updates, record maintenance, and follow-up on financial information
- Examine reports and transaction details to help identify missing information or discrepancies
- Perform routine data entry and maintain organized financial records for accounting operations
- Provide general administrative support to the finance function, including handling repetitive transactional tasks efficiently
- Work closely with the team during standard Monday through Friday business hours to help maintain smooth daily accounting workflows
Requirements
- Some exposure to accounting, finance, or bookkeeping through coursework or relevant experience
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice entry, and financial data entry
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately
- Basic proficiency with office and accounting-related computer systems
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage a steady flow of emails and financial documents
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal stakeholders
- Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; current or recent students are also encouraged to apply
