About the role
The Accounting Assistant position is designed for individuals who enjoy working with detailed financial information, maintaining accurate records, and supporting a variety of accounting functions in a collaborative environment. This role offers exposure to multiple areas of finance and provides opportunities to expand responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor financial records, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and properly tracked.
- Develop and manage Excel-based tracking tools and reports to support financial oversight and operational efficiency.
- Reconcile financial information, review supporting documentation, and identify discrepancies requiring follow-up.
- Research and resolve transactional issues while collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
- Aid with various accounting processes, including accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and payroll-related support.
- Prepare financial and operational reports, compile data, and assist with budgeting and reporting activities.
- Support compliance with internal procedures and financial controls through accurate recordkeeping and documentation.
- Track expenditures, maintain supporting schedules, and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to ensure financial information remains accurate and up to date.
- Provide administrative and accounting support as needed in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a related support role.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with large volumes of data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, and data organization.
- Experience supporting accounting functions such as accounts payable, invoice processing, account reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.
- Ability to identify discrepancies, solve problems, and communicate effectively regarding financial matters.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn new processes and responsibilities.
- Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software is preferred.
