ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT
An entry-level position within the Accounting Series. Under the direction of the Senior Accountant, the Accounting Assistant performs routine clerical accounting duties related to the preparation, processing, and maintenance of statistical and financial records in accordance with established procedures and governmental accounting standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of tasks including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Maintain cash handling and financial record-keeping
Works under the direction of the Passenger Services Lead. Maintains the ability to perform duties in Customer Service, Onboard Passenger Services, and Operations Monitoring Center. Fills in for staff during temporary vacancies and provides general backup support as needed.
Schedule
Shifts vary greatly and coincide with the train schedule. Some shifts start as early as 3:00 am and some end after 9:30 pm, or after the last train.

Ensures stations are maintained at the highest level of safety and cleanliness.

- Lead quality assurance initiatives and fleet reliability strategies
- Apply extensive knowledge of North American passenger rail equipment
Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Planning, Grants and Programming, this role leads and oversees advanced, highly complex professional planning studies and activities.
Responsibilities
- Short, mid, and long-range passenger rail and transit planning
- Agency coordination, advocacy, and station area development
- Environmental planning and network integration with other transportation services (including high-speed rail)
