About the role

The Accounting and Reporting Analyst contributes to the success of Hartwig by performing core general ledger accounting activities while also developing, maintaining, and enhancing financial reports and Power BI dashboards. This role bridges traditional accounting with financial reporting and analytics, supporting accurate financial close, insightful reporting, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring entries
  • Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with established timelines
  • Assist with audit support and documentation as needed
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting documentation
  • Prepare recurring management and financial reports for internal stakeholders
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards using data from ERP and other systems
  • Develop meaningful visualizations and metrics that clearly communicate financial results and trends
  • Collaborate with finance and operational leaders to understand reporting needs and translate them into effective reports
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reporting outputs
  • Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting and reporting processes through automation and improved data modeling
  • Partner with accounting, finance, and other departments to enhance data availability and usability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliation processes
  • Experience preparing journal entries and supporting month-end close
  • Hands-on experience creating reports and dashboards in Power BI
  • Strong Excel skills (including pivots, lookups, and data analysis functions)
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-accounting stakeholders

Core competencies include strong accounting fundamentals, data analysis and visualization, ownership and accountability, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • 3+ years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central preferred)
  • Exposure to audit support or internal control environments

This is a full-time role based in St. Louis, MO.
