The Accounting Analyst is responsible for evaluating corporate financial statements as required by the Security Exchange Commission (SEC). Study corporate financials and analyze information to determine profitability related to the company’s financial interest, and make future predictions on financial trends.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile gross profits to monitor any gross margin changes from period to period
  • Monitor cost analysis of expenses with recap to determine the impact of those costs
  • Reconcile General Ledger to verify the integrity of account balances on the company’s General Ledger accounts
  • Prepare tax filings on behalf of the company and adhere to deadlines
  • Prepare journal entries to log transactions into accounting journal items
  • Submit and adhere to year-end audit schedules
  • Participate in the annual assessment of the Company's financial controls as required by Sarbanes Oxley, as well as in controls and process improvement projects throughout the Company
  • Coordinate the maintenance of the Company's detailed financial controls and process documentation
  • Provide support in the assessment of the design effectiveness of Company's process control framework
  • Keep up to date with Security Exchange Commission (SEC) updates and rules/regulations
  • Maintain knowledge in effective business process internal controls
  • Perform other duties as assigned and contribute to the success of the department and function at SGWS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent education and related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills

Physical Demands

  • Considerable time sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine
  • Occasional to rare time walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15 lbs
