Accounting Analyst

About the role
The Accounting Analyst assists management in defining control objectives and monitoring compliance efforts. This role involves reviewing Belvac’s Core Internal Control (CIC) to identify gaps, escalating critical issues, collaborating with department leaders, and coordinating with Internal and External Audit and Dover Compliance. The position also supports standard costing maintenance, variance analysis, and financial reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing company-wide compliance and all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements; coordinate internal and external audits related to Sarbanes-Oxley and financial matters.
- Maintain and coordinate Belvac’s Core Internal Control (CIC) lists outlining internal control processes based on Dover requirements.
- Monitor critical internal controls monthly across all locations; provide training as needed.
- Perform SOX Section 404 testing of controls, including Accounting and IT controls, and prepare documentation for audits.
- Identify process/control deficiencies, recommend remediation plans, and monitor progress.
- Assist with Compliance program trainings and risk assessments.
- Coordinate segregation of duties reviews.
- Support standard costing maintenance and variance analysis/reporting for proper inventory valuation and COGS.
- Prepare costing for the Sales department.
- Participate in month-end close; prepare corresponding controls and account reconciliations.
- Serve as a cross-trained backup for the Senior Reporting & Planning Accountant.
- Assist with special projects and reports as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, Section 404, including an understanding of general IT control areas.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in internal audit, corporate accounting, public accounting, or manufacturing.
- CPA or CIA license is a plus but not required.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented team player with the ability to multitask effectively and work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate across various levels of management.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of business systems (e.g., IFS).
