Overview
The Accounting Analyst evaluates corporate financial statements as required by the Security Exchange Commission (SEC). The role involves analyzing financial information to determine profitability, making future predictions on financial trends, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile gross profits to monitor gross margin changes from period to period.
- Monitor cost analysis of expenses to determine their impact.
- Reconcile the General Ledger to verify the integrity of account balances.
- Prepare and file tax documents on behalf of the company, adhering to deadlines.
- Prepare journal entries to log transactions into accounting journal items.
- Submit and adhere to year-end audit schedules.
- Participate in the annual assessment of the Company's financial controls as required by Sarbanes Oxley.
- Engage in controls and process improvement projects throughout the Company.
- Coordinate the maintenance of the Company's detailed financial controls and process documentation.
- Provide support in assessing the design effectiveness of the Company's process control framework.
- Stay updated on Security Exchange Commission (SEC) rules and regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of effective business process internal controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned and contribute to the success of the department and function at SGWS.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent education and related experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
Physical Demands
- Considerable time spent sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine.
- Occasional to rare time spent walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15 lbs.
