Accounting Analyst I
About the role
Support the preparation, review, and analysis of financial data, reporting, and company consolidations for ALLETE and its affiliates. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, contribute to external filings, and support the documentation and improvement of accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the preparation, processing, review, analysis, and maintenance of periodic and miscellaneous accounting entries, financial data, and transactions, company consolidations, financial and operating reports, and other accounting processes for ALLETE and its affiliates.
- Apply departmental policies and practices, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of various external regulatory reports and filings – MPUC, FERC, IRS, etc.
- Participate in the design, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of new and/or existing systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting strongly preferred, but an equivalent degree with applicable accounting course work may be considered.
- Candidates obtaining a bachelor's degree by December 31, 2026 will be considered.
- No experience required.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required in order to establish and maintain relationships.

Pay
The expected annual compensation range for this position is $54,000 - $67,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.

Hybrid with in-person reporting to Duluth, MN.
