About the role
SCS Engineers is seeking an Accounting Analyst to support our accounting and financial operations team. The ideal candidate will perform various accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and reconciliation activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role involves working closely with internal departments and leadership to support month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, budgeting efforts, and audit requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex accounting and bookkeeping functions to support the organization's financial operations.
- Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare recurring monthly journal entries.
- Participate in semi-monthly and monthly closing processes, including bad debt accruals, depreciation entries, and other accruals and adjustments.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare correcting journal entries as needed.
- Reconcile fixed asset depreciation schedules to the general ledger.
- Aid in month-end and year-end close activities.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules within BNA software.
- Process fixed asset additions, transfers, adjustments, and disposals.
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset tax reporting documentation.
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial data and investigate account variances and discrepancies.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Aid in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external CPA audits.
- Aid in miscellaneous financial and compliance audits.
- Update and distribute aged accounts receivable reports on a weekly basis.
- Prepare and distribute average days receivable reports on a monthly basis.
- Maintain accounting records, files, and report distribution processes.
- Review office data for accuracy prior to system entry.
- Support preparation of operational scorecards and management reporting.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience required, preferably in a professional services or project-based environment.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software required; Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred.
- Accurate ten-key data entry skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Pay
The pay range for this position is USD $31.25 - USD $36.06 /Hr.
