About the role

Manage Accounts Payables processes, receive, review, verify, and record payables, and manage the disbursement process to ensure Service Providers are paid timely. Help maintain control of fixed asset inventory; manage available stock of products and consumables required for the branch; and realize user reconciliations of the Expeditors systems. Promote Expeditors’ culture and serve as an example for your team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellence in internal service execution within the Accounting department.
  • Engage with team members daily, participate in check-ins, weekly and monthly meetings, and build healthy cross-functional relationships.
  • Ensure a healthy work environment, promote team spirit, and foster cohesiveness within the department and across teams.
  • Own your self-development by preparing, following up, and executing on personal development goals.
  • Understand and implement company controls, policies, procedures, applications, tools, and systems.
  • Participate in Accounting team initiatives and projects, as well as support projects across other departments.
  • Escalate problems or concerns to the Accounting Team Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
  • Review and submit payable details in the exp.o Accounting system, ensuring overhead expenses are allocated correctly and operational costs are matched to the appropriate provision and general ledger code (GL).
  • Monitor overhead expenses and provide weekly status updates to management.
  • Perform Service Provider payable audits to verify charges against agreed rates.
  • Reconcile Service Provider payables to statements, ensure timely approval of invoices, and make accruals if needed.
  • Schedule and prepare payments in the exp.o Accounting system.
  • Process check deposits in the Wells Fargo banking system for checks received locally from customers.
  • Maintain a filing system in accordance with internal and local document retention policies.
  • Proactively identify problem accounts and resolve issues by building key relationships with Service Providers and internal staff.
  • Support the Accounting Department with miscellaneous projects and assignments.
  • Promote compliance by diligently following all company policies and regulations with integrity.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team on financial documentation for internal or external audits and other financial initiatives.
  • Map and understand department process flows, identifying areas for improved efficiency.
  • Actively participate in optimizing tools and continuously improving service efficiency and quality.
  • Set the tone for a positive work environment within your department.
  • Understand and comply with company internal controls, specifically the Financial Process Control Documentation.
  • Ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or accidents to the Branch’s Health and Safety representative immediately.
  • Complete 52 hours of training per year (4.33 per month) and all mandatory training on time.
  • Coordinate and maintain available stock of office supplies, ensuring best cost and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Accounting.
  • Finance knowledge and ability to learn global logistics industry processes and procedures.
  • Customer satisfaction-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to relate to and influence employees at all levels.
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving and business analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to complete work within standard procedures, guidelines, and office policies.
  • Self-driven personality with good business sense.
  • Good data entry and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hands-on user skills with Expeditors’ applications as needed.
