Responsibilities Position Description : This role forms part of JERA's growing North American Gas Trading business, which is expected to transition onto JERAGM's trading platform. This business is wholly owned by JERA Co., Inc. and will focus on US natural gas trading, optimisation and market development across North America. Successful candidates will join during the build-out phase ahead of the business's planned operational launch. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive accountant to supporting the financial operations of our US Gas business. The primary focus of this role is to ensure timely and accurate month-end closing, financial reporting and compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. Key Role Responsibilities Maintain the financial books and records in accordance with financial reporting standards and statutory requirement, including assessing the impact of changes in accounting standards and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment of the Group's business activities. Perform and monthly closing process to ensure accurate and timely group and statutory reporting Perform reconciliation of accounting to trading systems to ensure the accuracy of accounting ledger Prepare the monthly/quarterly financial reporting packages, and annual financial statements in accordance with the financial reporting standards Support audit and review process by external auditors and the internal control/audit team Support Group Finance Controller/Financial Controller on ad-hoc duties as assigned Collaborate with other departments to achieve the overall JERAGM's goals and objectives Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with trading and accounting standards and other compliance requirements Note that in addition to these duties employees are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required. Qualifications Key Qualifications and Experience Possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA or its equivalents) 7 years of relevant working experience with at least 5 years in a commodity trading company and/or in Big 4 accounting firm with a focus on the audit of commodity trading firm is desired Strong technical understanding of mark-to-market accounting in the commodity trading business is preferred. Positive, conscientious, hands-on, and self-driven. Enjoy working in a dynamic environment. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong logical thinking and analytical skills with attention to details and accuracy Collaborative team team player and thrives on excellence and continuous improvement Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under time pressure Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and able to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and various levels within the organization Experience with SAP or Sun/Horizon systems is a plus.
