Accountant Senior

About the role

This position can be located at our Marana, AZ office or our St. Ignatius, MT office locations. You will work closely with the Assistant Controller to support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, reconcile all corporate-level tax activity by state, county, and cities, and ensure accurate, timely updates for all tax registry and company setups per state as needed. You will manage the Corporate Registry Inbox and partner with other departments to disseminate critical and time-sensitive documents. The role requires independent work, active participation in ongoing audits, self-audits, and financial analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes within the accounting system, preparing reports such as balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and other documents.
• Review financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Collect data and compile needed accounting reports; assist the Controller with accounting record management and retention in compliance with GAAP.
• Assist with month-end, quarterly, and annual financial analysis and planning processes within the ESS Business Unit.
• Manage construction project financial performance data and provide support to ESS BU operations staff.
• Produce/assist in producing WIP schedules, project and company-specific budgets, and forecasts.
• Assist with the creation of proposals for new projects using historical data and information provided by operations staff.
• Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements, working with public accounting auditors.
• Administer internal controls and audits of procedures intended to preserve the organization’s assets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in A/P, A/R, GL Reconciliation, and Financial Reporting.
• Demonstrated proficiency in evaluating financial information to support operational decision-making.
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying GAAP and applicable regulations.

Qualifications

CPA preferred.
