Accountant/Senior Accountant
We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility. Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Supports Fixed Asset Accounting activities for the Virginia Power Distribution and Transmission functions, the service company, and the PowerPlan fixed asset subledger.
- Responsibilities include capital project closing, account reconciliations, financial controls, and data analysis.
- Assists with PowerPlan administration and process improvements while serving as the primary point of contact for related invoices.
- Partners with business, finance, and technology teams to strengthen reporting, data integrity, and PowerPlan processes.
- Evaluates and applies capitalization policies, researches accounting matters, and contributes to regulatory filings, rate cases, and special projects.
- Participates in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices and procedures
- Excellent computer skills including Excel
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Qualifications
- Senior Accountant: 5-6+ years of general accounting experience or 4+ years of experience working in public accounting (See note below)
- Accountant: 2-3 years of general accounting experience or 5+ years of experience working in public accounting (see note below)
Note: A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one full year of experience.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
Preferred Disciplines: Accounting, Business, Finance. Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
Skills
Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Pay
Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:
- Senior Accountant: $81,900 - $106,400
- Accountant: $65,500 - $85,400
The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
