Examples Of Duties
- Conducts individual, group and family counseling to alcohol and other drug dependent clients and their families.
- Performs client intake and discharge processes and prepares and administers individual recovery/treatment programs.
- Refers clients to appropriate social services.
- Provides educational presentations on alcohol and other drug abuse to community groups and other agencies.
- Maintains client records and data management.
- May provide supervision of other staff.
Typical Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience relative to alcohol and/or other drug abuse treatment or prevention required.
- Incumbents in this job classification who do not hold Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification, and are not licensed professionals in a related profession such as LCSWs, MFTs, Psychology, etc., must achieve certification within five (5) years of an appointment as a condition of continued employment.
- Some positions may require a valid California driver license.
Desirable/Preferred
- Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification from State Department Alcohol and Drug Programs approved certifying organization is highly desirable and may be used as a screening critera.
