Accountant II, Controller/Accounting Services

About the role

The Accountant II performs routine accounting assignments for the University. This position plays a key role in preparing, examining, and analyzing financial statements, accounting records, and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Applies accounting knowledge.
• Reviews university departmental work.
• Performs complex reconciliations.
• Prepares, examines, audits, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Prepares month/year-end closing entries and various other reports.
• Communicates with departmental personnel and assists with departmental questions as needed.
• Prepares timely, accurate, and complex reconciliations on a monthly basis
• Assists with the preparation of work papers supporting the monthly/annual financial reports
• Reviews work of other University departments.
• Assists in the development of new accounting procedures and methods.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Contingent upon a successful background check.
• Verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable.
• Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or related field.
• At the department's discretion, four (4) years of experience may be substituted
