About the role
The Accountant II will manage the accounting function for the corporate office, requiring strategic thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and complete tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger and financial reporting process for assigned areas, including month-end and year-end closings.
- Prepare journal entries for entry into the general ledger system monthly by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs, and preparing audit trail support.
- Reconcile bank accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Prepare monthly accruals and prepaid allocation entries.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with proper support and backup.
- Analyze general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and company policy, including monthly activity with relevant operational data to provide explanatory information or raise questions to finance business partners.
- Partner with other departments to improve efficiency and accuracy in recording transactions in general ledgers and subledgers.
- Maintain a strong control environment by following best practices, standards, and procedures across all accounting activities.
- Support both internal and external financial audit requests, as well as working paper requests for annual audit.
- Support ad-hoc projects as assigned by management.
- Participate in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports.
- Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
- Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating effectively with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers, and management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Two or more years of experience with general accounting required, preferably with public and/or private companies.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or comparable accounting system.
