Summary
This position conducts financial audits for for profit, not-for-profit, and governmental agencies, including cities, villages, schools, universities, state agencies, construction companies, and more.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) or other appropriate accounting guidance.
- Carry out financial, operational, and compliance audits.
- Execute compilation, review, and agreed-upon procedures engagements in line with relevant accounting guidance.
- Assess and report on internal controls.
- Analyze and diagnose financial control issues and gaps.
- Support accounting and financial reporting operations.
- Research and analyze accounting issues encountered during engagements.
- Prepare work papers to document audit work and support conclusions.
- Write reports and present audit findings.
- Advise clients on technical accounting and internal controls matters.
- Show a basic understanding of the client's environment and project scope.
- Independently perform tasks with some guidance to execute a portion of the project scope.
- Handle sensitive/confidential matters tactfully and discreetly.
- Complete audit programs as assigned.
- Comply with the Firm’s Quality Control Document.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong accounting, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite or similar software, with the ability to learn new or updated software.
- A foundational understanding of current accounting (GAAP) and auditing (GAAS) principles.
- Ability to review technical guidance, including statutes and regulations, and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a team environment and independently.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required.
- One year of public accounting audit experience, preferred.
- Experience preparing audit reports, preferred.
Physical/Mental/Visual Demands and Work Environment
- This job is conducted in an office setting, primarily involving sitting and using a computer.
- Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Travel is required.
