About the role
Perform basic accounting functions for the finance and accounting operations of the Tulsa Housing Authority (THA) and other related entities. Assist senior accountants in the interpretation and application of the Housing and Urban Development accounting regulations and the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles applicable to the THA and related entities.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced Accountants in performing professional accounting and reporting functions for THA programs such as: Locally Owned Housing (Contract FW-1182), Section 8 (Contract FW-3117) non-THA entities, Grant programs and Fixed assets and warehouse materials.
- Properly account for assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses and assure proper and timely reports are submitted.
- Assist in preparation and submission of online reporting functions such as REAC FDS submission, Section 8 VMS submission, PHAS and SEMAP submissions.
- Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and final budgets for assigned THA and non-THA programs.
- Track financial performance of assigned programs or departments to the approved budget and report non-compliant actions as directed.
- Assist in preparing and publishing budget and financial reports for THA controlled entities and provide accounting and financial reporting for non-THA organizations as required.
- Assist in the audit and reconciliation of the annual physical inventory with accounting recorded inventory records for both fixed assets and warehouse material.
- Perform assigned monthly, quarterly and annual duties that may require analyzing general ledger accounts and journal entries, creating needed journal adjustments and payment requests as needed.
- Create and maintain files for various accounting related functions.
- Analyze, reconcile and report 401(k).
- Assist in monitoring and controlling budget expenditures and prepare reports for all special grants consistent with the terms and conditions of the grant contract.
- Assist in maintaining the THA Accounting Manual to assure it is current and available to the appropriate members of management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Accounting Department planning activities.
- Utilize Excel and Word.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting or Finance, from four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training in Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
