Accountant I
About the role

Responsibilities
- Support the accounts receivable cycle, including customer maintenance and reporting, cost recovery, lease and billing management, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Review and analyze financial transactions to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and University procedures.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and other accounting documentation that support month-end and year-end reporting activities.
- Partner with campus departments to resolve accounting questions and support day-to-day financial operations.
- Contribute to business process improvements, documentation, and other accounting projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Benefits
Full-time, benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is eligible for telecommuting up to 2 days per week, following a training period during which on-site presence is required.
Pay
Salary is based on your experience, education, and qualifications, within the department’s budget and equity guidelines. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,570–$6,658/month; hiring salary not expected to exceed $4,755/month.

Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
