Accountant I
About the role
The General Accountant role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organization’s accounting processes in accordance with GAAP. This role contributes to the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance, while ensuring the integrity of financial data and supporting business decision-making. This role works closely with both Finance and Operations to ensure accurate data, timely reporting, and visibility into manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and results are accurate
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Aid in preparation of financial statements and internal reports
- Analyze financial data and provide variance explanations
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all accounting activities
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
- Provide actionable analysis to identify and reduce Job Order Variances
- Make assessments and recommendations based on review and analysis of variances to standards
- Resolve problems in an expeditious fashion
- Guide manufacturing in performing routine cycle counting activity and audits results
- Support the excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory review process, including data preparation and analysis
- Prepare and distribute routine reports to support operations and finance teams
- Aid in documentation and improvement of accounting processes and reporting tools
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–5 years of general accounting experience
Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, data analysis)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Effective written and verbal communication skills
