Responsibilities

  • Support the accounts receivable cycle, including customer maintenance and reporting, cost recovery, lease and billing management, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Review and analyze financial transactions to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and University procedures.
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and other accounting documentation that support month-end and year-end reporting activities.
  • Partner with campus departments to resolve accounting questions and support day-to-day financial operations.
  • Contribute to business process improvements, documentation, and other accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Position Information

  • Full-time, benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • This position is eligible for telecommuting up to 2 days per week, following a training period during which on-site presence is required.

Department Summary

The Department of Financial Operations is responsible for the financial and budgetary controls and procedures of the University and is directly responsible to the Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs. The University Controller’s Office is responsible for the maintenance of the University’s general and subsidiary ledgers for all operating and self-supporting funds. The University Controller’s Office oversees and coordinates the reconciliation and reporting of all financial transactions of the University.

Education And Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Key Qualifications

  • General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB); office methods and procedures; and statistical and mathematical presentation of data.
  • Advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems.
  • Capable of analyzing financial and statistical data and draw conclusions.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others and communicating effectively with others inside and outside the unit, including conveying technical information to non-Accountants.

Compensation And Benefits

Salary is based on your experience, education, and qualifications, within the department’s budget and equity guidelines. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,570–$6,658/month; hiring salary not expected to exceed $4,755/month. Full Benefits Package Includes Generous Time Off: 15 paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
