About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant I to join our accounting team. This role supports key accounting and financial reporting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, management reporting, and audit support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries accurately and timely.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for financial reporting and audit requirements.
- Research and resolve account discrepancies and reconciling items.
- Review financial transactions for compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
- Support daily, weekly, and monthly management reporting.
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure financial information is accurate and complete.
- Support external audit requests by providing documentation and account information as needed.
- Identify and support opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and internal controls.
- Develop a strong understanding of assigned accounting processes, systems, and financial controls.
- Assist with special projects, ad hoc financial analysis, and other accounting initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience.
- Understanding of general ledger accounting principles and the relationship between financial statements.
- Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with accounting, operations, and other business teams.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
Qualifications
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA certification.
- Experience with SAP or another enterprise ERP system.
- Experience in distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls.
