Job Summary

The Redding Rancheria is seeking an Accountant I - Accounts Payable Specialist. The preferred schedule is Monday - Thursday 4 10s or Monday - Thursday 9 hours and Friday 4 hours. The listed wage reflects the entry-level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 year degree in accounting or a minimum of 5 years of experience in similar accounting positions.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Indian preference.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform any of the following accounting tasks: accounts payable, purchasing and procurement.
  • Follows up with Managers on unapproved invoices and/or errors to avoid late payments.
  • Reviews vendor contracts and follows payment guidelines.
  • Responsible for contacting vendors for missing invoices and correcting errors.
  • Works with Purchasing Specialist to provide missing information, including receiving documents as needed.
  • Manages, reconciles, and processes account and credit card orders for goods and services through phone, email, and internet order as requested by receipt of approved purchase order.
  • Reconciles Purchasing credit card monthly.
  • Maintains credit card checking out process and pre-paid voucher files in the absence of Purchasing Specialist.
  • Reviews voucher cover sheet by checking vendor, coding, amount, accounting period, 1099 details, remit address, and payment terms to be sure all information is accurately recorded. Makes corrections as needed.
  • Maintains general office supply inventory and performs monthly inventory of supplies on hand.
  • Aid with all Departmental needs in reference to filing and scanning documents.
  • Compile and sort documentation.
  • Verify and prepare working papers to support the details of business transactions.
  • Ensure proper accounting in accordance with the established policies and procedures.
  • Perform accurate and timely processing.
  • Communicate with others in the department.
  • Apply analytical skills and maintain organization.
  • Proficiency with various office equipment and applications.
  • Support other functions within the department as needed.
  • Manage confidential information in a secure, discreet and professional manner.
