Responsibilities

• Prepare and present financial information as required by GAAP, the Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Department of Financial Services (DFS).
• Aid in the Turnpike's year-end and mid-year financial reporting closing processes.
• Prepare necessary accrual, adjusting, and correcting entries.
• Analyze pre-closing trial balances for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Ensure compliance with Department closing requirements.
• Research and reclassify capital project expenses as fixed assets.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to current financial reporting processes.
• Create and document new policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to review fiscal data for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Skills

• Immediate/Advanced Excel skills with formulas, sorting, and filtering data (5 years).
• Immediate/Advanced level Excel (5 years).
• Experience with financial reporting and preparing financial statements (3 years).
• Experience using statistical data, including debits/credits (3 years).
• Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques (0 years).
• Experience tracking other general consultant charges for accurate project cost reporting (1 year, highly desired).
• Experience researching capital project expenses and reclassifying them as fixed assets (1 year, highly desired).
• Experience with state government accounting (1 year, highly desired).
• Immediate/Advanced level Pivot Table (5 years).
• Immediate/Advanced level XLOOK UP or VLOOK UP (5 years).

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university (0 years).
