Responsibilities
- Prepare and present financial information as required by GAAP, the Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Department of Financial Services (DFS).
- Aid in the Turnpike's year-end and mid-year financial reporting closing processes.
- Prepare necessary accrual, adjusting, and correcting entries.
- Analyze pre-closing trial balances for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Ensure compliance with Department closing requirements.
- Research and reclassify capital project expenses as fixed assets.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to current financial reporting processes.
- Create and document new policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to review fiscal data for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Skills
- Immediate/Advanced Excel skills with formulas, sorting, and filtering data (5 years).
- Immediate/Advanced level Excel (5 years).
- Experience with financial reporting and preparing financial statements (3 years).
- Experience using statistical data, including debits/credits (3 years).
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques (0 years).
- Experience tracking other general consultant charges for accurate project cost reporting (1 year, highly desired).
- Experience researching capital project expenses and reclassifying them as fixed assets (1 year, highly desired).
- Experience with state government accounting (1 year, highly desired).
- Immediate/Advanced level Pivot Table (5 years).
- Immediate/Advanced level XLOOK UP or VLOOK UP (5 years).
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university (0 years).
