Accountant/Fiscal Analyst II

Job Responsibilities

Develops and maintains accounting systems and procedures to ensure compliance with GASB.

Performs professional accounting duties in the analysis and interpretation of accounting data and reports.

Applies appropriate accounting theories when presenting data for internal or external use.

Designs appropriate collection and presentation methods for managerial accounting needs.

Develops and maintains depreciation schedules for appropriate assets.

Prepares financial schedules for use in fund accounting reports in conformity with GASB.

Captures and presents financial data for reporting purposes.

Periodically reviews the general ledger to ensure conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Coordinates the flow of information to and from internal and external auditors.

Assists in the preparation of year-end and periodic financial reports and statements for the South Carolina Comptroller General.

Prepares the Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards (SEFA).

Prepares annual athletics reports, including those required by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA).

Manages sales and use tax reporting, including admissions and accommodations tax; files monthly and annual reports with the South Carolina Department of Revenue.

Prepares and files Form 1099-NEC.

Assists in the design and coordination of system implementations and troubleshooting.

Develops procedures, training manuals, and operations manuals for new systems and processes.

Coordinates the implementation of changes to internal chart of accounts.

Reviews accounting internal control policies and systems; tests compliance to internal controls and verifies the reliability of audit trails.

Provides backup support for reconciling and remitting payroll benefits, levies, and other deductions, and for preparing State and Federal payroll tax returns.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and professional experience in related areas such as accounting, auditing, finance, or commercial lending.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 15 hours of college accounting as well as several computer courses.

Three to five years’ professional accounting or related experience required.

Pay Grade: GEN08

Salary: Commensurate with experience and State Pay Grade
