About the Role

The Accountant will manage and analyze the County budget to assist management in making sound financial decisions for the present and future. He/she will perform monthly and year-end accounting processes; assist in the collection, preparation, and analysis of financial data in accordance with all local, state, federal, and financial reporting requirements; and manage the cash resources of the County to maximize interest revenue and meet payroll, accounts payable, and warrant payable needs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance of Euna and all related software, including integration and automation to ensure no duplicate entry.
  • Manage portions of the budgeting process, from database design to budget approval and publication.
  • Integrate data from CloudSuite into budget software, ensuring accuracy.
  • Prepare a $300 million calendar and fiscal budget.
  • Analyze, review, and negotiate departmental budget submissions.
  • Manage and prepare the Strategy & Budget document and Budget Briefing.
  • Create ad-hoc views and write new reports using Microsoft Report Builder.
  • Write SQL queries for the Euna database.
  • Manage the security module of the software.
  • Apply hot fixes, patches, and major releases.
  • Train new and current budget users on software and major releases.
  • Manage the OpenBook site for budget transparency.
  • Manage performance measures and benchmarking processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations.
  • Manage accounting functions for various funds, including reconciliation, journal entries, analytics, and monthly close packets.
  • Manage daily cash resources to maximize interest revenue and ensure investment safety.
  • Forecast cash needs and build investment schedules.
  • Manage county credit cards, including issuance, termination, and dispute handling.
  • Update the Finance website with new documents and information.
  • Attend required training and seminars.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 credits in accounting.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in budget and accounting (government preferred).
