About The Role
The Corporate Accountant at Huna Totem Corporation plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records and supporting strategic decision-making. This position is not solely focused on routine accounting tasks but involves active collaboration with leadership across various business divisions, including tourism, cultural initiatives, and investments. The Corporate Accountant will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing insightful analysis to aid in organizational planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
- 3-7 years of full-cycle corporate accounting experience
- Experience supporting external audits (preferred)
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and lookups
- Experience with ERP systems, with Sage Intacct strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
- CPA certification or active progress toward CPA licensure (preferred)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Valid driver’s license for occasional site visits
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries with proper documentation
- Conduct regular balance sheet and account reconciliations
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes from start to finish
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger across HTC and its subsidiaries
- Prepare financial statements and internal management reports
- Perform variance analysis, investigate discrepancies, and provide explanations
- Aid in budgeting and forecasting activities organization-wide
- Provide financial data and insights to support informed decision-making
- Support external audits by organizing documentation and responding to audit requests
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Maintain and update accounting procedures and process documentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and suggest enhancements
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions as needed
