About the role
The accountant deals with financial issues of normal to medium complexity to support business processes. This position will develop an expanded understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures; apply accounting knowledge; as well as participate on and lead teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop an expanded understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures
- Apply accounting knowledge
- Participate on and lead teams
- Review and validate relevant data and data sources
- Analyze information and provide feedback
- Work on challenging, low to medium risk issues and make decisions and recommendations as appropriate
- Perform a broad range of analysis work
- Exposure to a variety of accounting functions
- Financial accounting, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Internal management accounting
- Development and maintenance of internal controls and procedures
- SOX Compliance, assistance with Audits
- Communications with internal and external customers
Requirements
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to independently handle accounting issues
- Demonstrate good communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent degree with at least 18 college units in Accounting required
- Overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, organization and planning expertise, analytical and problem solving skills, leadership ability, and computer literacy
- Experience with Power BI preferred
