Accountant
About the role
This position is responsible for assisting the Pieper Controller and PPC Corporate Controller with GAAP/internal financial reporting duties and preparing various financial reports to meet Company business requirements. The role will require working in one or more areas of financial research and analysis under the direction of management. Conduct business in accordance with PPC and Pieper Electric’s mission and vision statements, guided by core values of Safety, A Servant’s Heart, Wisdom, Integrity, Courage, Humility, and Passion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly/monthly journal entries and branch-level profit & loss (P&L) statements
- Assist with month-end closing process and financial statement preparation
- Assist with monthly financial performance summaries
- Contribute to financial planning processes (annual budget & monthly forecasting)
- Gain understanding in job costing methods for internal labor, material, and equipment
- Monthly balance sheet account reconciliation
- Support cash flow forecasting and treasury management; daily ACH tracking and recording
- Fixed asset maintenance and recording
- Assist with external audit requests
- Participate in shared services
- Assist with development of ERP reports and system maintenance/troubleshooting
- Other ad-hoc or impromptu assignments directed from the Pieper Controller, Corporate Controller, Lead Accountants, and/or Director of Finance
Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination
- Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task
- Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others, bringing concerns to their attention
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company
- Support goal of achieving zero accidents
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel
Qualifications
This position requires a strong individual looking to develop into a leader and long-term contributor to our organization. Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar, completed or in progress. 1-3 years of prior experience in an Accountant role in a professional atmosphere preferred. CPA, CMA, or CCIFP certification is preferred. Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable.

- Strong business mathematical and analytical skills with intense attention to detail with accuracy and consistency
- Ability to see details and recognize errors, working within precise standards of accuracy
- Advanced computer/technical skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT, Teams)
- Enthusiasm for training in other software applications as needed
- Ability to reason and think logically in problem solving
- Ability to prioritize various daily responsibilities
- Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
- Self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees across the organization and other external parties
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a growing financial acumen
