Accountant

About the role

The Accountant - Accounting & Reporting position at Enact is designed to support the company's mission of helping lenders put more people in homes and keeping them there. This role is part of the Controllership team and involves preparing financial reporting and filings, supporting premium tax filings, and assisting with various accounting tasks.

Responsibilities

• Aid in preparing quarterly and annual regulatory and statutory filings, including all financial statements, schedules, and footnotes/disclosure schedules.
• Support premium tax filings in all states and municipalities, including creating ACH requests.
• Complete monthly accounting close related activities, such as preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for premiums, losses, reinsurance, and statutory adjustments.
• Create and maintain documentation for key departmental processes.
• Aid in the preparation and filing of supplemental schedules and state and regulatory reporting forms.
• Compile financial data from tax and investment teams to include in regulatory and statutory filings.
• Support external auditor activities related to statutory audits, including providing certain schedules and variance explanations, and auditing financial statements and related footnote disclosures.
• Work with IT and other departments cross-functionally to continually improve processes.
• Aid with all regulatory-related audits and reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 0 - 5 years of general accounting experience
• Strong experience with Excel and other accounting related tools; Oracle experience a plus
• Strong attention to detail
• Superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with a team as well as with individuals in other departments and at other levels within the organization
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate
