Accountant

Position Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries; perform balance sheet and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Participate in annual financial audits and other internal or external reviews; prepare schedules and supporting documentation.
• Monitor and manage project and capital accounting, including budget tracking and reporting.
• Maintain fixed asset records, including capitalization, depreciation, and periodic review.
• Review grant-related journal entries for accuracy and proper classification, in coordination with grants administration.
• Perform bank and cash account reconciliations; assist with cash reporting and analysis.
• Support internal controls by following and helping maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Aid in special projects and process improvements as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Educational Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Experience Requirement: Minimum of one to five years of accounting experience. Not-for-profit or higher education/research environment experience preferred.
• Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and internal controls; experience working within an ERP environment (Workday, Lawson, or similar systems preferred); strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn new systems and tools quickly; strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy; excellent organizational and time-management skills; clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments; self-motivated, collaborative team player capable of working independently with appropriate supervision.

The salary range for this role is $70,000-75,000.00. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
