Accountant
About the role
As an Accountant at Alfa Laval, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our financial records are precise and reliable, driving insightful reconciliations and delivering impactful financial and management reports that support our business growth and success. This is a hybrid opportunity located in Richmond, VA.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries and cost allocations
- Participate in month-end close and review of financial results
- Prepare and analyze the periodic reporting for Alfa Laval Inc and other subsidiaries
- Collect additional information necessary for the statutory closing reporting
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate outstanding items
- Investigate and correct errors or inconsistencies in financial entries or reports
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Provide ad hoc financial reports, analysis and projects as requested
- Support other team members in day-to-day processes
- Document and update standard operating procedures for all owned processes
- Identify potential process improvements
- Be responsible for data warehouse maintenance
- Assist with auditor requests
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile the accounts within area of responsibility (e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger)
- Maintain accurate accounting within area of responsibility to be in line with accounting principles and reporting schedules
- Produce accounting reports and present results
- Collaborate with counterparts in the finance processes (e.g. Finance Shared Service Center personnel or personnel within Local Finance)
Requirements
You have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and:
- 3+ years of relevant accounting / financial reporting experience
- Knowledge of standard accounting principles, best practices, and procedures
- Thorough understanding of general ledger structure
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools
- Attention to detail
- Strong time-management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills
- Highest level of integrity and trust
- Dedication to excellent customer service
- Ability to work independently and effectively in order to meet deadlines and goals
- Team player
- CPA or equivalent preferred
- Fluent in Spanish is a plus

Pay
The base salary for this role is typically $70,000 - $85,000.
