Accountant 1 - Local Government
Description of Work
This entry-level fiscal position supports the financial operations that help guide important services for Children and Youth Services in Cambria County. The role involves detailed accounting work that ensures accurate funding, reporting, and program support. As an Accountant 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Budget Support: Assist in preparing state and county budgets and related financial reports
- Invoice Processing: Post placement invoices and prepare federal and program-specific invoicing
- Fiscal Reporting: Prepare general ledger reports, trial balances, and journal entries
- Cost Allocation: Allocate placement expenditures and reconcile income and revenue items
- Auditing Tasks: Conduct internal audits and review fiscal documents for accuracy
- Program Support: Gather data for audits, maintain eligibility records, and oversee contract files
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting; or One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Cambria County. If no eligible candidates who live within Cambria County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

Legal Requirements
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
