Accountancy Assistant
Job Overview
The job entails working within Regent Point and both hospital site cashiering offices, Freeman Hospital and the Royal Victoria Infirmary. You will be working within one of the Financial Services Teams ensuring high quality and accuracy in all areas of work. The role will require dealing with internal departments and external organizations and individuals. This post is a generic role within the Financial Services team, and the successful candidate could be working within the Accounts Payable Department, Accounts Receivable Department or Corporate Financial Services, including the cashiers’ offices. This post offers an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience within the Financial Services Department and is being advertised as both a full-time Band 3 post and an Apprenticeship post depending on eligibility of the applicant.
Main duties of the job
- Work within Financial Services and contribute towards a high-quality service.
- Work flexibly as required to meet the needs of the various Financial Services Department teams.
- Aid in the coordination and control of activities within Financial Services.
- Ensure that transactions relating to the Trust's activities are processed in a timely manner.
- Work flexibly and actively assist in the collection or payment of monies relating to the Trust's activities.
- Take immediate action in any remedial adjustments required to ensure the accurate financial recording of the Trust's activities.
Person specification
- Meets All Band 3 Criteria:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English
- Accounting Technician Intermediate, or be progressing towards a professional accountancy (CCAB) qualification or NVQ Level 3 in a numerate subject or equivalent experience
- An understanding of accounting procedures
- A good working knowledge of financial and non-financial computer systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure strict deadlines are adhered to
- Able to work within set routines with little direct supervision
- Good communication and time management skills are essential
- Meets All Apprentice Band 2 Criteria:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics (Grades 9 - 4, or A* - C, or Functional/Key skills at level 2) and English
- Motivated to complete further studying and continuous professional development
- Able to work towards the completion of a project within set deadlines
- A good working knowledge of financial and non-financial computer systems such as Microsoft packages, is essential
- Ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure strict deadlines are adhered to
- Able to work within set routines with little direct supervision
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a team
