The Account Representative manages existing accounts, prospects new opportunities, and drives company growth by maintaining and expanding assigned accounts while actively seeking new business. This position ensures profitable outcomes by managing margins, expenses, and logistics, with strong communication and problem-solving skills essential for handling challenging situations professionally.
Responsibilities
- Investigate new potential sources of scrap metal to generate new business.
- Negotiate new contracts and contract renewals.
- Purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal.
- Establish pricing based on the current commodity market and company policy/needs.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments to ensure organizational cohesion and customer satisfaction.
- Regularly analyze profitability of established accounts and manage margins.
- Maintain and grow account relationships to identify improvements.
- Complete projects as needed, including travel when required.
- Participate in networking functions and associations.

Qualifications
- One to three years of related experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel regularly, including some overnight stays.
