Account Operations Tech 1

This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position is on-site.

Pay

Minimum $36,399 – Midpoint $44,754. Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience and is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

About the role

Performs a variety of routine day-to-day operations related to the administration of billing accounts for a defined University medical service or billing agent.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Completed degree from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Responsibilities

• Researches and prepares billings for initial electronic claims submissions.
• Verifies benefits eligibility and coverage for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
• Enters information necessary for insurance claims such as patient, insurance ID, diagnosis and treatment codes and modifiers, and provider information.
• Ensures claim information is complete and accurate.
• Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Identifies and bills secondary or tertiary insurances.
• Submits insurance claims to clearinghouse or individual insurance companies electronically or via paper CMS-1500 form.
• Ensures strict confidentiality of patient medical and financial records, in compliance with federal and state patient privacy legislation.
• Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
