Account Manager - Truro
About the role
Location: Truro, Cornwall. Type: Full-time. Salary: £35,000–£44,000 OTE.
Hi, I’m Russ, Regional Director for the SW at Zen Educate, and I’m looking for Account Managers who want to tackle a very real, very important problem: helping schools get the teachers they need, when they need them, without wasting millions on old‑school recruitment agencies. If you love building relationships, solving meaningful problems, and being part of a mission‑driven team, this might be your thing.
What We’re Building And Why: UK schools spend over £2 billion a year on temporary staff, but £600 million goes to recruitment agencies. Zen Educate is an online platform giving schools instant access to fully vetted teachers and support staff. Since 2017 we’ve saved schools over £30 million, money that goes back into classrooms and teachers’ pay. We’ve just closed a $37 million Series B (the biggest EdTech round in Europe last year) and are scaling fast in the UK and US.
Responsibilities
- Own relationships with key schools, helping them hire smarter and faster.
- Lead school leaders through recruitment processes with a consultative approach.
- Build genuine relationships via outbound calling focused on helping, not just selling.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Ops, and Tech teams to ensure schools get the best possible experience.
- Roll up your sleeves and dive into whatever’s needed in a fast‑moving startup environment.
A typical week might involve chatting with a headteacher about saving £10k this term, sourcing a teacher who is a perfect match, following up with existing schools to expand usage, sharing feedback with the product team, working with Ops to resolve tricky bookings, and jumping into team brainstorms to improve pipeline.
Qualifications
- Naturally enthusiastic and curious (we’ll train you on everything else).
- Confident picking up the phone, handling objections, and building trust fast.
- Proven track record of hitting sales targets or smashing similar KPIs.
- A team player who loves being part of a close‑knit group.
- Passionate about having a positive social impact (bonus points if you care deeply about education).
- Growth mindset – always looking to learn and improve.
Benefits
- Meaningful work – helping schools save money and pay teachers more.
- Competitive salary + ownership in the company.
- 25 days holiday plus all usual UK public holidays.
- 1‑1 coaching to keep you growing personally and professionally.
- Life & Health Insurance.
- Cycle to Work Scheme.
- Electric Car Scheme.
