Account Manager - Transportation & Infrastructure
About the role
The Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Account Manager is responsible for delivering a best-in-class customer experience and fostering positive commercial interactions with Electrical Contractors, Distributors, and Agent Representatives. This person will strive for alignment with the internal organization, facilitating engagement with Millerbernd teams in a relationship-based sales role.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain win-win relationships at all levels in assigned territory
- Quotation generation using company pricing strategies
- Manage all commercial order acceptance and development activities
- Drive resolution to customer changes, concerns, and other inquiries
- Develop and maintain business with customers to enhance the potential for meeting the objectives of maximum profitability and growth through effective sales and service practices
- Support sustained sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers through all levels of the organization
- Generate pricing schedules and quotations to existing sales channels in alignment with profitability goals
- Convert quotations to sales bookings and manage development of orders
- Provide best-in-class customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Respond timely to all customer inquiries via phone, email, and virtual meetings
- Maintain a balance between company policy and customer benefit in decision making
- Manage backlog of work; monitoring volume, profitability, and diversity
- Manage ECD communication, date migration, and other order details to customers
- Participate in risk-reward decision making with RSM for pricing and margin optimization
- Keep informed of industry changes, participates where possible in organizations directly involved with our prime markets, and continually work to improve team knowledge
- Expedite the resolution of customer issues utilizing internal CARe and Change Order processes
- Provide the Voice of Customer and market feedback to the organization utilizing CRM tools
- Support operations through Tier board meetings, design review meetings, and team meetings
- Travel available up to 5% throughout USA
Role Qualifications
- Preferred candidates will have two (2) or more years of experience with contractor or distribution sales, business to business sales or marketing, and/or business content development in a technical setting.
- Other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered.
- Confident, driven, and dynamic, producing high-quality results
- Motivated self-starter, derives energy from problem solving and winning
- Basic knowledge in interpreting technical specifications and/or mechanical drawings
- Basic skills in math, including; fractions, decimals, margin calculations and basic algebra
- Use effective and appropriate written and oral communication skills both internally and externally, including; leading team meetings, providing proactive customer status updates, ensuring the needs of the business are met
- Adaptable to changing work priorities, and ability to change priorities without prior notification
- Collaborative approach with others as part of a high-performance team
- Confident user in MS Office applications, particularly using Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Confident user of ERP systems, especially Epicor CRM experience preferable, especially in Salesforce
- Ability to resolve tense situations with a win-win outcome
- Work Environment (office): While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk short distances. On occasion, the employee may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
- On the production floor, all employees are required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
