Account Manager, Sales, Electrical Steels
About the role
At ArcelorMittal North America, we are seeking an Account Manager to join our Electrical Steels Sales and Marketing Organization. This role offers the opportunity to help build a new division and become a leader in the North American non-grain-oriented electrical steel (NOES) market. You will promote an advanced and sustainable steel product, collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including Global R&D, and support customers in their transition to electrification and carbon neutrality. Your contributions will be visible within the company and among strategic customers, driving the success of our Electrical Steels business at AM Calvert, Alabama.

Responsibilities
- Support the Sales and Marketing organization to identify and target strategic customers in auto and non-auto markets that align with our product offerings, capabilities, and objectives.
- Assist with product launch and new business development activities, including commercial qualifications and trials.
- Develop, action, and manage Account Plans for assigned customers, ensuring alignment with company direction and strategic objectives.
- Track performance against sales objectives and other metrics; identify and execute corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain customer relationships through regular in-person visits, including entertaining, addressing service needs, soliciting new business, managing contracts, and communicating customer requirements. Create visit reports capturing key highlights and market intelligence.
- Monitor customer satisfaction through delivery and quality metrics, feedback, and relationship-enhancing strategies.
- Determine strategic price offers for customers and negotiate day-to-day issues such as claims and freight.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of commercial, technical, and manufacturing experts to achieve strategic and tactical objectives related to profitability, volume, pricing, quality, delivery, service, and product development.
- Manage customer-required KPIs and metrics, including scorecard activities, ensuring ratings are maintained and communicated internally and externally.
- Provide monthly reports as assigned and assist Customer Service Representatives, R&D, and Customer Technical Service personnel with account-related concerns.
- Function in a team environment, providing backup support and participating in projects and special assignments.
- Support internal goals such as inventory management, payment performance, and invoice collections; explain variability in billings and volumes compared to forecasts.
- Respond to customer service requests, including inquiries about products, delivery, availability, order status, and requests for quotations, including spot buys.
- Serve as the product expert to customers and communicate customer needs and performance internally to identify actions necessary to meet requirements.
- Communicate business, market, and customer intelligence back into the Sales and Marketing organization.
- Contribute to annual business planning (ABP), perform monthly updates to forecasts (MRF), and practice active sales call planning using CRM tools.
- Perform customer and market analysis by understanding ArcelorMittal NA and competitor capabilities, price trends, performance, and structures, as well as non-price competitive factors.
- Monitor market information daily, weekly, and monthly, including trend analysis and market forecasting, to understand industry economics and serve as a resource to customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
- Up to 30-40% travel time, depending on assigned accounts; must be able to travel throughout North America.
- Sales and Account Management expertise.
- Knowledge and experience with Electrical Steels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Steel sales experience.
- Product launch and new business development experience.
- Knowledge of the Automotive market.
- Technical aptitude; an Engineering background is a plus.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheets, pivot tables, MS Teams, and other MS Office tools.
- Experience utilizing system resources and sales tools such as CRM, Power BI, IBP Forecast tool, and other newly developed sales tools.
