About the Role
The Account Manager at Formerra is responsible for developing profitable growth with a primary focus on developing potential target customers based on a specialization platform. This role includes forecasting annual objectives for sales, margins, and volume growth. The Account Manager will sell at all levels of management, build strong relationships, and assist customers in problem-solving to deliver solutions. This role requires independence, minimal oversight, and the ability to interact and influence at the managerial peer level. Up to 75% travel is required for this territory covering Minnesota.
Responsibilities
- Drive profitable revenue growth, including robust new business development.
- Achieve stated gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
- Utilize customer-centric selling skills and tools (e.g., scorecards, business reviews, EVE tools, high/wide/deep strategies, prospecting, CRM management).
- Establish, track, and close new business targets consistent with short- and long-term objectives.
- Develop a contact matrix and build strong relationships with key decision-makers and project facilitators.
- Prospect and cold call to expand the customer base.
- Develop, execute, and manage sales plans, budgets, and expense budgets.
- Create account development plans and network resources across customer and Formerra organizations.
- Deliver planned results (AOP) and capture service opportunities at strategic accounts.
- Understand key players, applications, requirements, trends, and needs within the targeted industry.
- Become an industry and product expert to leverage successes across the industry.
- Coordinate with regional sales teams and technical areas to drive profitable growth through solutions selling.
- Establish a linkage between the customer’s business strategy and Formerra’s capabilities.
- Monitor competition, develop plans to eliminate barriers, and implement pricing and market strategies.
- Negotiate customer contracts and value packages to ensure acceptable returns.
- Participate in strategy development and help define target markets and commercial strategy.
- Develop written Account Plans for top three strategic accounts, including metrics for annualized sales potential.
- Manage strategic relationships, cultivate new alliances, and monitor competitive activity.
- Maintain CRM data and sales statistics as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Plastics or Polymer Engineering, Business, Chemistry, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
- 5-7 years of sales experience in distribution, manufacturing, sales, or account management.
- Ability to develop high, wide, and deep relationships.
- Complex thinking skills to translate customer needs into solutions.
- Technical aptitude and broad knowledge of solutions, materials, and processing.
- Professional presence with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented mindset.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 75% for client meetings, industry events, or team gatherings.
