About the role
The Account Manager is a territory owner responsible for driving revenue growth, managing a portfolio of commercial and industrial electrical service accounts, and leading a team of five to ten service technicians across an assigned Texas market. This is a dual-role position requiring both a skilled salesperson and an operationally sharp service leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell and qualify new commercial and industrial electrical service accounts within assigned territory.
- Develop and execute a territory sales plan targeting manufacturing, food and beverage, aviation, and other industrial sectors.
- Conduct needs assessments, present service solutions, and negotiate contracts and pricing agreements.
- Maintain an active pipeline of leads and opportunities; manage forecasting through CRM.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and association meetings to generate referrals and build market presence.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within the existing customer base.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for all assigned accounts.
- Conduct regular on-site visits to maintain relationships and assess service performance.
- Resolve escalations, customer complaints, and service issues quickly and professionally.
- Negotiate contract renewals and service agreement expansions.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively address any risk of churn.
- Directly manage five to ten service technicians; oversee daily scheduling, dispatch, and workload allocation.
- Ensure all field work meets quality standards, safety requirements, and SLA commitments.
- Mentor, coach, and develop technicians; conduct performance reviews and set individual goals.
- Collaborate with the AR department to ensure jobs are properly documented and billed.
- Financial Accountability & Revenue Management:
- Own territory revenue targets and maintain profitability at approved margins on all accounts and service work.
- Price jobs and contracts accurately; protect margin through disciplined quoting and scope management.
- Coincide with Accounts Receivable to ensure invoices are accurate, submitted promptly, and collected on time.
- Monitor account payment status; actively follow up on outstanding balances and flag collection risks.
- Prepare and present monthly territory reports covering revenue, pipeline, and profitability performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of sales and account management experience in electrical services, industrial services, or a closely related trade.
- Hands-on electrical experience required — must understand electrical systems, maintenance, and service delivery at a working level.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a field team of five or more technicians.
- Proven ability to manage and maintain profitability and pricing in a service business environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with CRM software and field service management tools.
- Valid Texas driver’s license; willingness to travel throughout assigned territory regularly.
- Existing book of business or established customer relationships in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, San Marcos, or DFW.
- Experience selling into or servicing manufacturing, food and beverage, or aviation facilities.
- Electrical contractor license or TDLR electrician license (Texas).
- Familiarity with service contract pricing, maintenance agreements, and labor rate structures.
- Knowledge of NEC codes, OSHA electrical safety standards, and industrial electrical systems.
- Preferred: Target Industry Sectors: Manufacturing (general industrial, process, heavy equipment), Food & Beverage (processing facilities, cold storage, distribution centers), Aviation (airports, MRO facilities, hangars, FBOs), Commercial & Industrial (office complexes, warehouses, data centers), Other industrial sectors as identified within each territory.
