Account Manager - Core
Roadtex Transportation, a leader in the nationwide LTL industry, specializes in transporting time and temperature-sensitive products. We handle refrigerated and LTL needs through our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, state-of-the-art tracking, and specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics, expanding transportation management solutions with a national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation.
About the role
The Account Manager, Temp Control is a logistics and supply chain professional responsible for delivering exceptional service to customers within Echo’s temperature-controlled transportation segment. This role owns the overall strategy, performance, and growth of assigned accounts, ensuring maximum profitability, operational excellence, and client satisfaction while expanding Echo’s share of business. Success requires strong relationship building, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate client needs into operational execution.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the strategic lead for all client interactions, including on-time performance reviews, continuous improvement discussions, and business reviews.
- Deliver professional PowerPoint presentations and confidently lead client-facing meetings.
- Build strong partnerships by assessing complex business challenges, identifying root causes, and developing solution-focused strategies that drive measurable improvement.
- Conduct market research and proactively communicate industry trends, including impacts to pricing, capacity, and operational planning.
- Identify opportunities for account growth and assess competitive risks within the client portfolio.
- Partner cross-departmentally with operations, billing, pricing, technology, and other functions to ensure alignment on client needs.
- Assist with critical and/or out-of-scope pricing scenarios to maximize margin.
- Create, manage, and analyze client-requested reports.
- Identify opportunities to standardize reporting and streamline processes across multiple accounts.
- Serve as a strategic resource on SMB client partners and the CSR teams that support them.
- Identify client partners with growth potential and prioritize time to understand their needs and growth potential.
- Utilize reporting to identify account churn risk and outreach to understand client needs.
- Ensure accounts demanding significant time investment are worthwhile based on current and potential profitability.
- Partner and own the client relationship with 5-8 of our largest strategic partnership accounts.
- Schedule, plan, and lead Quarterly Business Reviews for each strategic account assignment.
- Visit each strategic partner twice annually in person.
- Closely monitor KPIs related to service, profitability, and revenue.
- Align with executive account sponsors on growth potential, risk, and overall performance of accounts.
- Partner and own the client relationship with 25-50 of our largest growth potential partnership accounts.
- Drive expansion plans with account assignments to increase revenue and profitability through transportation, warehousing, and other Echo offerings.
- Schedule, plan, and lead Annual Business Reviews for each growth account assignment.
- Visit one top growth partner account monthly.
- Monitor KPIs related to service, profitability, and revenue, with monthly check-ins on growth progress.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting and managing customer accounts within supply chain, logistics, and transportation.
- Strong understanding of refrigerated transportation, LTL, and partial truckload operations.
- Experience with client pricing, billing processes, and general LTL business operations.
- Proven track record of building strong partnerships with both external customers and internal teams.
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to create compelling presentations and lead executive-level conversations.
Qualifications
- Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
